Week 18

This week has been a good one. On Wednesday we had to take a 3 hour bus ride to a City called Gweru for Zone Conference. Friday we had interviews with our President and that will be my last interview with Pres. Mkabela. So we all said our goodbye's and stuff like that. Things are going very well with Elder Goje and I.
My area isn't that close to where the bomb went off so not to worry.
We didn't have a baptism this week because we had to push it back. Because of Zone Conference and interviews we weren't able to meet with our investigator. But hopefully we will have his baptism this week. Could you help by praying that everything will fall into place so Methulue can be baptized this week?
I miss our dogs, the dogs here are gross and they don't like people they get treated like crap and so they just run away from everyone. Most of the dogs are just muts I really don't know what kind they are.
Sunday was good we don't have a ward mission leader so I teach Gospel Principles every week.
The weather has been warm during the day and pretty cold at night.
For lunch today we went to get this thing called shwarma, it's kind of like a burrito. It has chicken and fries, lettuce, tomatoes and a type of sauce in it. And they are cheap so that's why we get them.
We don't have members feed us, we have like one dinner appointment a month.

I made fried chicken for dinner and it was pretty good.

Week 17

I am wearing the new pants that guy made me.

I'm doing good! If you ask someone here how they are doing they say, "I'm fine and you?" and you just respond, "I'm fine" it's different than back at home.

Things are alright with Elder Goje it's getting better so that's good. I don't know how I feel about being a trainer. I still feel like I'm a baby on the mission hahaha, but I think that this will help me be a better missionary and make me more responsible, that's for sure.

We have 2 baptisms planned this week, but it looks like only one will go through because Mary didn't come to church so we will have to push her date back.

This week we did get a few more investigator's which is really good. We also have one of our old investigator's back. His name is Onias and I taught him with Elder Stone. He had some problems with the Restoration and with Joseph Smith. We just told him to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it and then call us when he is ready for us to come back. Then this last Sunday he came to church and wants us to come back and teach him again. We went to his house on Thursday and he told us that he came to know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it teaches the same things as the Bible just in a simpler way. We invited him to be baptized so he is scheduled to be baptized on July 7th.

I know the Book of Mormon has power unto the convincing of men and just like Joseph Smith said, "A man would get closer to God by reading the Book of Mormon and abiding by it's precepts than any other book." I know this is true and if we put some effort into reading and praying, God will answer our prayers.

Week 16

Elder Goje and I
My new companion, Elder Goje he is 22 and from South Africa. I meet him in Harare and did some training while I was there. I was in Harare for 2 nights we left to come back to Bulawayo on Thursday. I took my last 6 hour bus ride to Harare until the end of the mission because the mission splits at the end of June.
It was nice to get a warm shower while I was there.
I didn't see any miracles this week we only worked in the area for 3 full days. We did contacting most of the time so not too
exciting but it was a good week.
Elder Vave, me, Elder Goje, Elder Banks
I had Elder Stone cut my hair before
he left. Elder Vave, from Tonga, is very
good at cutting so I will have him cut my
hair next time.
Everyone in my house is new except
for me and the other 2 are near the
end of their missions.
So it has been quite the change.

Week 15

Picture of our last District meeting. Elder Burros, Elder Parker, Me.

Every week in our district meeting we all share a miracle that happened  during that week.
This miracle happened a couple of weeks ago to a member's mother. She went to see her
husband in Botswana and her visa was only good for 3 days. Well she stayed longer
than the 3 days. Before going through customs. she took her passport
and her visa and stuck them in her copy of the Book of Mormon. She said a prayer
that she would be able to get home. She handed the book to the person checking passports
the person opened the Book of Mormon stamped it and she was on her way. She told us this story because she knew now that the Book of Mormon is 100% true. So I thought that was a pretty cool story.
I am feeling good my cold is gone now. My new companion is Elder Goje and I am training
him so I have to take another 6 hour bus ride to Harare to pick him up. He is coming right from the MTC. I don't know much about him so I will find that out when I get there. Elder Stone went to the Harare Mission so I probably won't see him again. And he left this morning so I will be with Elder Parker for the day until I leave for Harare. I will be in the new mission the Zimbabwe Bulawayo Mission. I've been learning how to say a few more words in Ndebele but it is pretty difficult to speak so I am starting slow.

Last District meeting with this crew. Elder Stone, Elder NG Lam,
Me. Elder Parker. Elder Burros, Elder Wheeler
For P-day we went to town and got fish and chips for breakfast which were actually pretty good except they don't have tarter sauce here. And then for lunch we went to KFC. KFC here is pretty much the same as there but the gravy is different and they serve sadza and sadza nuggets which are deep fried sadza balls.
Elder NG Lam and I. Picture was taken right before he left to go to Harare. He
is going to be staying in the Harare mission.
