Week 14

I'm doing very good and everything is great! This week went by so fast we had alot of time to contact and to find new investigators because our investigator pool is running low. We've been focusing on our investigators that we have had and trying to work with them towards baptism. Prisca did get baptized and she was very excited but a little nervous because she is afraid of water. That was her only concern. When our District Leader interviewed her, he asked her who she wanted to baptize her. She chose me because she trusted that I wouldn't drown her. We also baptized 3 of our primary kids in the ward.
We still walk everywhere and it doesn't look like we will be getting another car. But it is all good walking everywhere is good exercise.
Transfers are on Monday so we will find out who our new companions will be on Saturday. So we will see what happens.
Last night we slept over at our District Leaders house so we could have a nice warm shower. It's been a while since I've had a warm shower. I've had a cold for 3 days, a stuffy nose and a cough but today I have felt better and the warm shower did help.
Elder Parker asked me to shave off all of his hair. I tried to talk him out of
it but he really wanted it to be gone so I cut it off. Haha!

These cute kids were just following us so we decided to
get a picture with them.

Elder Stone and I, Prisca and her mom.

The kids that were baptized in our ward.

We were walking past a house and heard puppies winning so we
stopped and took some pictures of them and watched
them play around for a minute.

Week 13

Things are good here we were supposed to have a baptism on Saturday but the kid
decided he wasn't ready yet so the baptism didn't happen. We do have a scheduled
baptism this coming Saturday for a girl named Prisca. She is 19 and her brother
is Leroy who we baptized the first week we were here. Their mom is another one
of our investigators. What is cool about Prisca is that she was living in South
Africa and going to school. She just came back to Zim for the school break.
While she was in South Africa her friend gave her a Book of Mormon so
she had read it before we had even met her. As she was packing to come
back to Zim she lost her Book of Mormon so we gave her another copy. We
were talking to her about the Holy Ghost and how to recognize when the
Holy Ghost is testifying to us. She told us that she had felt those feelings and knew
the Book of  Mormon is true. We invited her to baptism and she accepted. She is
excited and ready to be baptized.

Week 12

Elder Wheeler and I sitting in the back of a Combi
It was so good to hear and see you guys. I really
enjoyed it even though Skype froze and we got cut off.
The Bishop's wife still does our laundry we just buy
her soap and bleach and we pay her $5. We drop off
our laundry bags and she has them done in two
days. Some of the best parts of my mission so far
have been meeting all of these missionaries from
all around the world and getting to know them.
And also getting to know Mathias who we
baptized two months ago. He is such a strong
member of the church now. He is just so cool
to talk to and it is great to see his progress in
the church.
There aren't many nice cars driving around here.
Every once in a while you'll see a nice truck or
BMW but other than that they just drive little
old cars.
I know that God really does have a hand in our lives
I know he prepares people to receive his gospel.
And that he leads us missionaries to those who he has
prepared. I'm grateful to be a missionary and to have
been raised in the gospel it has been a guide in my life and I know it is true.
Love,

Week 11

This week has been tough we lost our car so now we have to walk to our area which is a 30 min walk. Our area is huge and it takes an hour to walk from one end to the other. We have another area called Pumula and it is even bigger than Nkulumane 12. When we got to Pumula we have to take a taxi because it's like a 2 hour walk from our house. This area is so big that we only work in Pumula South, but all of this walking is good exercise. This week Elder Stone and I decided that we wanted to cook some soup for dinner. We eat mostly rice and chicken or noodles and chicken so we needed a break from that. We found some soup mix and veggies at the store and made soup. It was pretty good so we decided to make soup more often. We have to pack our lunch now because we normally go to a Sadza Shack but without the car it would take too long to walk to. Some days we go to a chicken place that is like KFC.
This week has been good, we found 6 new investigators, 4 of them are family members. The Mpofu family, the father, mother, and two children they plan on being baptized on May 26th. We are helping them along with their bishop to get legally married. Hopefully everything will go as planned.
This week we went on exchanges with the District leader and his companion, I went with Elder Na Lam he's from Samoa and my companion went with our new district leader Elder Burrows. It was a great day! You can always learn something form other missionaries to help improve yourself.
Can't wait to skype home for Mother's Day!
Love
Elder Rasmussen

Week 10

This week has been great! On Saturday we baptized a man named Freedom he is 24 years old. He has been living with a family that are members of the church. We meet him 4 weeks ago at church, we asked him if he was a member and he said no but he wanted to be. We set up a time to meet him and we invited him to be baptized and in that first lesson he accepted the invitation. I was the one who baptized him. While we were in the bathroom of the church changing he told me that he was thankful that I baptized him and that all his sins were washed away. Hearing that was so powerful because he can't speak English very well. It was so powerful to hear those words come out of his mouth!
We have 10 new investigators and a bunch of them are very promising so hopefully we can get them a baptism date. We had to drop one of our investigators because he is having some mental problems and was put into a mental hospital this week so that was a bummer. The gospel was helping him but I guess it was to much for him to handle. We are trying to get approval to go see him and possibly give him a blessing.
Church on Sunday was a little crazy. Our bishops brother died and so he wasn't at church. There isn't anyone here to keep the ward running, so luckily someone from the Stake was there to help it run. Sacrament started late because we were trying to figure everything out. We didn't have bread so me and my comp and another member of the ward quickly drove to his house to get some bread. As soon as we got back  they started sacrament meeting. The ward I am in isn't very organized and is a little frustrating.  I am really excited to skype home in a couple of weeks!
